Lookbook: From Winter to Spring
J.Crew City Mini Skirt; J.Crew Factory Stretch Perfect Shirt; Ann Taylor Perfect Pumps; Longchamp "Planetes Tonal" Tote; Tommy Hilfiger Sunglasses, DL40; H&M Bracelets; Ann Taylor Stud Earrings |
We've finally finished unpacking and my closet is now in order! I'm loving the new neighborhood and I'm sure many Elevated Style photo-shoots will take place here.
Today I wanted to talk about transitioning winter clothing to warmer weather. Here, I've taken a wool skirt that I typically wear with black tights (see this post) and I've paired it with a crisp white button-down. And voila―perfect for Spring!
Too bad the skirt wasn't a bit longer on me as it would be a great work outfit. Oh, the life of a tall girl.

Lookbook: When a Dress Becomes a Shirt
H&M Striped Shirt; J.Crew No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Double-Serge Cotton; Ralph Lauren Zabrina Pumps; Vintage Bracelets; Tommy Hilfiger Suglasses, DL40 |
The striped shirt I'm wearing is actually meant to be a dress! Of course, it's not quite long enough for me to wear as a dress (common problem for tall girls!), but that's okay. Sometimes you just have to be a little creative.
Above, I’m wearing it tucked into a vibrant pencil skirt. I
thought the neutral stripes would balance out the bright citron color. Have you ever worn a dress as a shirt before?
On a different note, I'm moving today so it may be more than a few days before my next post. Have a good weekend!

Lookbook: Ann Taylor Tall Sizes
Ann Taylor Tall Compact Doubleweave Pants; Ann Taylor Parallel Dots Pleat Neck Top; Longchamp 'Planetes Tonal' Tote; Ann Taylor Perfect Pumps; Tommy Hilfiger Sunglasses; DL40; H&M Bracelets |
In high school, I finally discovered pants that came in ‘tall’ or ‘long’ sizes, which saved me from wearing what had looked like high-water pants. Since then, I’ve tried out numerous brands that offer longer sizes such as Gap, Express and Banana Republic, to name a few.
A recent find for me came from Ann Taylor―the
Tall Compact Doubleweave Pants. These pants are so long that even in heels,
they almost hit the ground! According to Ann Taylor, here's the difference between
regular and long pants:
- Waist placement is lowered 3/4"
- Inseam is 35" (my inseam is 33" for context)
I rarely find long sizes in the store, but anntaylor.com has a great selection of long sizes. What are the stores you’ve found longer sizes in?
