Above are two of my most recent tall purchases from Banana Republic—a retailer that never fails to have great options for taller women (if you order online!).
- The Ikat strapless dress. With coupons and a gift card, I managed to buy it for only $28. Score! Hopefully it fits—I ordered a size down (4T) because in my opinion, it's better to have a tight strapless dress than one that constantly falls down! I've only owned one other strapless dress and I remember having to constantly adjust it. Lookbook post to come shortly!
- Classic trench in black. I've had my eye on this black trench coat (perfect for fall), even though I own the Almond color already. I purchased the Almond one a few years ago when I started my first job out of college. I love it so much; it's a classic style that has lasted me over two years. The only problem? The sleeves are a bit short. I roll the sleeves up most of the time, but it will be nice to try this trench in a tall size. You can see the Almond version on me here.
Thanks for sharing the reviews. I just started following your blog and being 5'11" I really appreciate seeing the clothes on someone with height and a great fashion sense. J Crew is my go to for talls but I always forget that Banana Republic also has a great tall selection too. The black trench looks gorgeous. I have the J Crew trench in tan which is very nice, but it is a bit short in overall length and waist. Congrats on your lovely purchases.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I usually don't share my purchases, but I was just so excited about these! Let me know if there's any styles in particular you'd like me to review or if you have any tall-related questions. I'll do my best to answer!
DeleteWhat a steal on the dress! I have the BR trench in almond. I found a tall size at the BR outlet a year ago believe it or not. I love how long the sleeves are and am glad it has a belted waist to create some shape. Hope you love it!
ReplyDeleteDon't you love it when you find a random tall size in store?! It's like it was meant to be :)
DeleteHi! I finally tried the Ella Dress from J Crew that we talked about. The strapless BR dresses work better for tall ladies. The regular sizing on the J crew Ella dress is not very tall friendly (the hip hits at a weird place and the top of the dress is too short).
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see photos of the BR strapless dress on!
BTW, J crew is having a 40% off of clearance sale code: OURTREAT. Also I went to Banana this weekend and got some great blazers for really cheap. There was an extra 25% all final sale markdowns. Check out the local stores!
I tried on a few blazers at Banana last weekend and almost pulled the trigger. I've been thinking about them ever since. I might have to go back!
DeleteWhich ones were they? I got the white sateen one (http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=462051&locale=en_US&kwid=1&sem=false&sdReferer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bananarepublic.com%2Fproducts%2Fwomens-blazers.jsp)
DeleteI also got the striped seersucker blue and white as well from the Spring 2012 collection. They are not tall sized ones and thus I have to get the sleeves let out but still, they are nicely fitted.
The J crew 40% sale pretty much took a big chunk out of my paycheck. haha. I had already bought the Director dress (that I mentioned to you prior) and now I got the memo dress as well as the Altuzarra for J.Crew Sabrina dress: http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/ingoodcompany/Altuzarra/PRDOVR~92134/99102748658/ENE~1+2+3+22+4294967294+20~~~0~15~all~mode+matchallany~~~~~gingham%20dress/92134.jsp
I'll let you know how they turn out. But so far, the director dress is really stunning and the fabric is great!
I was looking at the sateen ones too, but the soft khaki color. The fit was nice through the waist, but the sleeved felt a little tight on my arms. I tried sizing up, but then the body of the jacket was too big.
DeleteCan't wait to hear how your J.Crew purchases turn out. I absolutely love the Altuzarra dress.
